EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT GRADE

Creating Advanced Queries, Data Access Pages, Switchboards, Macros & Applying Security Features

DIRECTIONS:  We will be using COMMUNITY SERVICE Database for this EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT.
  1. Everything on this ASSIGNMENT will be on your test!  Be sure to use help for assistance.
     
  2. DAP:  Create a data access page containing all the fields from the Volunteer Hours Table.  Save it in your folder.  Input a record:  VS07, Sandy Beaches,  9/18/06 and 1.5  Check the Volunteer Hours table for your new record.
     
  3. CALCULATED FIELD Create a select query that includes a calculated field.
     
  4. PARAMETER QUERYCreate a parameter query.
     
  5. Include one message box macro on each of your Access Database forms.  Have it run when the form is opened.
     
  6. Create switchboards for your database:  main, tables, forms, reports DAP's and queries.  All forms, reports, tables, queries and DAP's must be linked. 
     
  7. Include an option on your main switchboard to open tables, forms, reports, DAP's and queries.  
     
  8. Include an option on your main switchboard to edit your switchboard.
     
  9. Include an command button on your main switchboard to close the Community Service switchboard.
     
  10. Include a command button on the main switchboard that will exit Microsoft Access.
     
  11. Include an option on your tables, forms, reports, DAP's and queries switchboards that returns you to the main switchboard.
     
  12. Open all forms in edit mode.  
     
  13. Customize your switchboard text and background colors.  Customize the font style and size also.  Be consistent.
     
  14. Add an appropriate picture to the Main Switchboard.
     
  15. Set the switchboard to be loaded at start-up.  (Tools,....)
     
  16. Have the Main Switchboard maximize at startup.  (Macro)
     
  17. Set a password--use stock as your password or I will not be able to grade it! 
     
  18. Export a table or query to Excel and create a Custom Chart.  Format it attractively, including:  fonts, titles, legends, etc.  Save the chart as an item in the spreadsheet.  Save the spreadsheet as community service in your Access Unit 3 Folder.
