Gap Analysis Commentary

To assess the technology and learning program, our District used the "Technology and Learning Report Card" developed for ISBE by Educational Technology Planners, Inc. There were four numerical indicators for each category to be reviewed that ranged from 0 to 3. The following rating scale was used:

Rating

Meaning

0

no evidence or indicators that the described conditions were in place

1 or 2

some degree of evidence that the category existed

3

sufficient evidence that the category did exist in the district to the fullest measure as described on the instrument

Gap Analysis instruments were distributed to all members of the Technology Advisory Committee, Ed Tech staff, Curriculum Leaders, and Administrative Team members. Curriculum Leaders solicited feedback from their departments to complete their surveys. Time prevented broader distribution to parents and community members, but a parent survey is planned for Fall, 2000, to solicit more accurate feedback from families.

Based on responses to the gap analysis, our committee identified 8 goals, which were then further defined as the Action Plans you will find later in this plan. These action plans address only those categories in which we scored a 2 or lower and which fit the broader goals of the district.

Below is a summary of the scores in the individual categories of the District’s Technology and Learning Report Card and the numerical score indicating how well it has been established in the District’s plan. You may also view the Gap Analysis Summary for specific responses to the various survey questions.
