A Communications and Information Plan
for Warren Township High School

Scenario for Learning with Technology

The following depicts a scenario of how we envision education in a technology-rich learning environment in the year 2022:

A computer in Kim Warren’s bedroom speaks:

"Good morning, Kim. Today, you will need to pack your ice gliders for life fitness class; remember, you’ll be riding the Zip-Rail to the United Center for your instructional video conference session with the global all-star hockey team. The session will be over by 10:00 a.m., which will give you time to digest your findings from your Martian Quest senior project for your facilitator, Dr. Green. I have located five e-zines, 2 video clips, and 5 holographic virtual reality dramatizations related to your biochemistry project on the recent findings of the Martian Quest explorers. You will find these downloaded to your personal digital assistant.

Dr. Green will signal you at the appointed group conference time. Be sure you aren’t traveling through a tunnel during your conference. After your conference with him, he will indicate the mathematical concepts you will need to master to develop your Mars project. Check the syllabus on the Warren High School server, and choose sessions which best fit the learning modalities which we defined after your most recent self-evaluation.

Don’t forget the portfolio of projects you archived on your home server which may be of help to you on this project.

Schedule a meeting with your study team for peer review of your project before you submit it. Remember, your group meets on channel XJ5 of the community educational video network, 5:00 p.m. on Fridays. Final evaluation of your project will be via the school server; your work will be placed on view for the next 14 days for review by your Warren facilitators, community members and area scientists. After you have made final adjustments to your work, you may transmit your findings to the Martian Quest explorer team via our inter-planetary satellite dish, to be kept in their database for ongoing use. Send a "carbon" e-copy to the matrix of post-secondary multiversities you are considering for post-high school study.

At 4:00 p.m. this afternoon you are scheduled to meet with your community service group of fellow students and senior citizens to create programming for the holiday variety show to be broadcast next week. Afterwards, Dr. and Mrs. McKanna have invited Warren students to their home where they will demonstrate how to make hot chocolate with pots, milk, cocoa, sugar and their antique electric stove (circa 1990). If you can’t attend, they will leave their video conferencing channel open. Address: gww.mckanna.home.

And Kim, have a nice day.
