Introduction to Computers for Teacher Productivity

Cancelled due to low enrollment. Almond Campus, 34090 N. Almond Rd., Gurnee, Room 151 
This one-credit graduate course will introduce beginning technology users to basic computer tools that can enhance teacher productivity. Participants will learn to boot and shut down computers, save to floppy disks and the network, and use a mouse. Participants will also learn to use word processing, Internet browsing, and email software. This course is geared to the teacher with little or no experience using computers. Assignments are designed to provide opportunities to practice the skills introduced in each session and to be of immediate use in teaching. Best practices for the integration of technology for learning will be introduced. Taught on PC computers.

Cost: $50.00 tuition, $15.00 for books/materials

Engaging Learners with Desktop Presentations Monday-Friday, June 18-22; 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (5 sessions) Almond Campus, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee, Room 151
This one-credit course will explore ways to engage learners through the use of desktop presentation software and hardware. Topics to be covered include basic features of PowerPoint, presentation design principles, instructional methodologies related to desktop presentations, and creating student projects using PowerPoint. Taught on PC platform. 

Cost: $50.00 tuition, $15.00 for books/materials

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Computers or demonstration of equivalent study and ability.

Teaching and Learning with the World Wide Web Cancelled due to low enrollment. Almond Campus, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee, Room 151
This two-credit graduate course will introduce participants to a wide range of global resources available on the Internet for teaching and learning. Topics to be explored include the study of the engaged learning and research models, selecting and evaluating web resources, integration of Internet resources into existing Warren THS curricula, guiding student on-line activities and research, and assessing student Internet projects. Taught on PC platform. Participants will use FrontPage software to create and publish web content for learning. 

Cost: $100.00 tuition, $15.00 for books/materials

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Introduction to Computers or demonstration of equivalent study and ability with Internet technologies.
