Policies
A. All girls are expected to be dressed and prepared for every practice by the start time each day. The typical weekday practice begins at 3:30. This means any player arriving later than 3:30 will cause the entire team to receive a punishment. These punishments will be distributed by the coaching staff and through their discretion.
*Legitimate excuses for being tardy to practice:
-Medical appointment.
-Meeting with a teacher (i.e. getting help on class work, making up test, lab, etc.)
All excuses must be accompanied by a note from either your doctor or your teacher!
NOTE: Detention is NOT a legitimate excuse and will be a punishable offense!
B. Because we cover a lot of information per practice, it is important that each player understands that missing practice is a serious case and failure to attend every practice harms their ability to learn and then perform on game day. Therefore, any girl who misses practice will lose game privileges. Below is the structure of these punishments:
1st missed practice=missing 1 quarter of the following game
2nd missed practice=missing one half of the following game
3rd missed practice=missing the entire next game.
4th missed practice=possible removal from team
Please understand if a player is consistently absent or late to practice, it is a serious offense to the trust of your teammates. We have made a commitment to you and therefore, you have made a commitment to us. Failure to live up to this commitment is a failure to be a complete team player.
*Legitimate excuses for missing practice:
-Illness that causes you to miss a day of school or, to be sent home early. (Note, this means if you are in school for the entire day, you are expected to be at practice.) Weekend events are also part of this equation. If you are in school Friday, you are expected to be with the team on Saturday. Please contact either Coach Edler or Coach Peterson if you leave school early to inform them of you left school because of an illness.
**Note: If there is a serious case that needs immediate attention, please contact Coach Edler or Coach Peterson immediately.
Missed game day=sitting out the following game.
**Note: If a player is going to miss any practice or game time she should talk to her coach as soon as possible. These policies will act as a guide, but all consequences will be at the discretion of the coaching staff.
3. Other policies:

Game Day:
On ALL weekend games, ALL players are required to sit together and cheer for the varsity team. Players will have until the end of the 1st quarter to find their teammates and sit with them for the entirety of the varsity game.
Study Table:
Academics are the most important part of your life. You must earn grades in order to play basketball. Failing classes will not be tolerated. The WTHS Athletic Department has established a Study Table for those students who are either failing or close to failing classes. This is intended to provide for you an atmosphere to study. You will be notified each week of your academic status and whether or not you will be attending study table.
Bus travel:
All players are required to ride the bus to and from away games. Exceptions will be made only for an emergency and only accompanied by an official note from a parent. Birthday parties, homework assignments, and wanting to get home quickly are NOT considered emergencies. We will do our best to leave as soon as possible after weekday road games.
